Freeport, Illinois — When it comes to the winter months no one ever thinks about the importance of having socks. Just having socks in general at any time of year are important.

However you’d be surprised to know how many people don’t have them.

With the help of many other organizations and you the public, CAP Education Coordinator Brittani DeVries says the final count is in for the 3rd Annual Socks for Stephenson County, and 2,082 pairs were donated this year.

DeVries, of Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom IAA Foundation says that once again their donation to The Salvation Army Freeport, IL has gone up from the years prior.

“Thank you to those who donated including area schools, Orangeville Servant Leaders, FFA chapters, Harlem Helpers 4-H Club, Compeer Financial of Freeport, various Farm Bureau & community members, and FHN for contributing to make this year the best yet!”

A special thank you also goes to Marlie Folk, Assistant FB Manager, for counting all the socks & FB Manager and CAP President Bruce Johnson for delivering them to the Salvation Army.

DeVries says families in need are having a warmer holiday season because of your donations.
