Freeport, Illinois — On May 15th, 2018 a shockwave was sent deep through the hearts of nearly every single person in Freeport and in cities far and wide beyond, after hearing the news that Carl Schwartz had passed away. The news of his passing has left an entire community of people numb.
This Saturday at 1:00 PM at Park Hills Evangelical Free Church in Freeport, funeral services will be held for Carl with Sean Huguenin, Chaplin of FHN Hospice officiating. The church is located at 2525 W Stephenson St.
Visitation for Carl will be from 3:00-7:00 P.M. Friday at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, located at 504 N Walnut Ave. in Freeport. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
The family says that at this time there will be no luncheon following the funeral, as the family is still planning to hold the previously scheduled Benefit/Memorial planned prior to Carl’s passing.
The benefit for Carl is scheduled for Saturday, June 16th from 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and will be held at the Eagles Club located at 1200 W. Galena Ave. in Freeport. At Carl’s benefit will be a silent auction, food and lots of opportunity where friends and family can come together to remember a great man. All the food to be served will be local, farm fresh roasted hog, chips and soda/water for $8.00.
As of this previous article, there were well over a dozen local businesses donating to the event, along with many friends and family who are gathering food, drinks and other items needed. If you would like to help out, you can contact those in charge via this benefit page here.
