More Breathtaking Freeport Images Captured by Steve Farringer

Freeport, Illinois — You know how we like to find little hidden gems and special things about people and our way of life here? Well, Steve Farringer, cab driver by day, photographer extraordinaire by night is one of those examples.

We are always captivated by the images of our region that he captures. The below shots taken recently by Steve are no exception. The images are just stunning.

Steve says he can’t believe no one uses our park in the winter, but as you can see below says, “thats ok, I enjoy having it all to myself”. We’re glad he does too.

Because we enjoy these images so much, we wanted to share them with all of you. All photos are copyright Steve Farringer. Enjoy.

Krape Park tonight. I still cant believe no one uses this park in the winter but thats ok, I enjoy having it all to myself.

Back in my growing up days, the ’50 & ’60s, Krape park was very busy in the winter. There always seemed to be ice skating on Yellow Creek, and Bert Tavenner (sp), the park policeman, was always in the warming house and outside. It really seems to be a shame that this is still not the scene these days; we had SO much fun! But, times do change.
