Freeport, Illinois — With the help of numerous people from regional schools, police department, the Freeport Community Foundation and others twenty-four youth from Lena, Pearl City, Dakota and Freeport schools will have their chance to Shop with a Cop this year.
On Saturday, December 17, 2016 children will be paired with a police officer for a time of shopping together to get clothing, toys, and other items needed and that the child asked for.
This year marks the 22nd year of Shop with a Cop. It’s a time where officers volunteer their time to help shop with parents and their children.
Children that need various items within Stephenson County are able to enjoy a unique shopping adventure at local stores as they help pick out presents with their family and their new police officer friend.
The children are referred to the program by schools in Stephenson County. Police officers from Freeport are part of a program.
