SHANNON, ILLINOIS — Now in its 100th year the Shannon Homecoming annual celebration is a region wide weekend long event dating all the way back to 1919. Held every Labor Day weekend, tens of thousands of people come out to enjoy the annual fun which began in 1919 as a homecoming to soldiers who were coming home from WWI.
