2018-2019 Freeport High School Performing Arts Schedule With Show Pricing

Freeport, Illinois — In recent years, people like you have made generous donations to Freeport High School Theatre, providing funding for wireless microphones, tools, costumes, make-up, script rentals and royalties for shows. With your support, Freeport High School Performing Arts can continue to bring the best in theatre to Freeport. Here are the programs scheduled throughout the 2018-19 season.

Bye Bye Birdie

A loving look at the early 1960s, smalltown America, and rock-and-roll, Bye Bye Birdie continues to delight audiences. Teen heartthrob Conrad Birdie has been drafted. As a farewell, he will sing “One Last Kiss” and kiss a girl from Sweet Apple, Ohio, live on the Ed Sullivan Show. Albert and Rosie are in charge of the events, but more than one adult in town tries to stop the show. Featuring hit songs such as “Put on a Happy Face,” “Kids,” and “A Lot of Livin’ to Do,” this lively show is directed by Tim Connors. November 8, 9 & 10.

Christmas Memories

Start your Christmas season with a delightful collection of holiday stories and songs performed onstage by FSD145 staff and their families. Freeporter Matt Bruehler is writing a new skit for this year’s show, the Grinch will make an appearance, and other holiday classics will shine. The music and merriment make it a must for adults and children. Performances are in the FHS Studio Theatre (room 228). Please bring a food donation for FACC. Please park in the west lot. November 29 & 30; December 1.

Holiday Pageant

Experience a joyous celebration of the holiday season when the best in FHS choir, orchestra, and drama perform sacred and secular music, illustrated by impressive tableaus. Hundreds of FHS students participate in this glorious tradition. Olive Peterson directs the orchestra, and Dan Wessler directs the choirs. December 9.

Art to Art

FHS students direct and perform in three one-act plays, presented in the FHS Studio Theatre. Seniors will direct his year’s plays, featuring their fellow students. It’s a wonderful opportunity for talented young people in the Theatre Department. All proceeds support FHS Theatre Scholarships. Please park in the west lot. March 14, 15 & 16.

Showtime 39

You’re sure to enjoy the entertaining medleys, humorous skits, and featured melodies in this song and dance extravaganza. If you’re a fan of big bands or show choirs, you won’t want to miss it! Come see our talented teenagers bring the crowd to its feet. Dan Wessler and Derek Simons direct the show choir. Bill Petersen directs the Jazz Ensemble. Season ticket holders may purchase tickets on Saturday, March 9. April 5, 6, 7, 11, 12 & 13.

Lend Me a Tenor

World-famous Italian tenor Tito Mirelli has come to town to perform the lead in the Cleveland Grand Opera Company’s Otello. When Mirelli squabbles with his wife and accidentally gets a double dose of tranquilizers, the farce is just beginning. Throw in a nervous general manager, a young assistant named Max with a secret talent up his sleeve, an ambitious female co-star, and a flirty head of the opera guild, and you have the recipe for comedic disaster. With crazy costumes, slamming doors, and mistaken identities, Max must orchestrate a smashing success for the Opera Company. Directed by Tim Connors. May 9, 10 & 11.

When you purchase the season ticket package for $38 (adult) or $36 (senior/student):

  • You may reserve your seats two days prior to the general public for all productions, October 13 for Bye Bye Birdie and March 9 for Showtime. The theater box office will be open from 9 to 10 a.m., just for subscribers. (Please note: if you do not reserve your seats during those dates, there is no guarantee of ticket availability once tickets go on sale to the public.)
  • You may purchase two additional seats for each season ticket before tickets go on sale to the public.
  • You may get your tickets at the FHS Business Office from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Phone orders using a credit card may be taken during the same time by calling 232-0428.
