Lanark, Illinois — On Saturday September 8 a benefit will be held for Lanark Firefighter Dean Nelson who was recently diagnosed with Oropharyngeal Cancer.
According to Lanark Fire and Ambulance the tumor has attached to the muscles and nerves of the back of Dean’s tongue, mouth and possibly near his vocal cords. Dean and his wife Talea will be traveling to and from Chicago so he can receive the proper testing and treatments. Dean will receive daily treatments for 7 weeks, the department says.
On Saturday September 8 from 4pm-8pm a spaghetti dinner will be held to benefit the Nelson family. Dinner plates are by donation and include Spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread and a drink. At the benefit will also be a raffle, 50/50 drawing, kids games and a silent auction. The benefit will be held at the Lanark Fire Department located at 103 W Carroll St. in Lanark.
