Corned Beef Cabbage, Leprechauns And A Whole Lot of Beer – Freeport Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day With A Pub Crawl

Freeport, Illinois — What began as a religious feast day in the 17th century in observance of the death of St. Patrick, has turned into piles of corned beef cabbage, Leprechauns and a whole lot of beer. Green beer in some cases.

St. Patrick’s Day occurs annually on March 17 and this year on Saturday March 18th, 2017, as a fundraiser for Freeport Downtown Development Foundation to support downtown Freeport revitalization, Freeport is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with a city wide Pub Crawl.

In previous years the Freeport Downtown Development Foundation held a pub crawl and limited the event to downtown businesses. This year, bars and clubs all throughout the city are participating and the all day / all night event is sure to be fun for all.

Registration for the event will take place this year on Saturday at Hilldale Dairy, 30 W Stephenson St. between the hours of 12 to 4 p.m..  General admission for the event (Shamrocks) cost $10.00 while VIP admission (Leprechauns) are $25.00.

The event, which is being held from 12:00 p.m. and lasting until 11:00 p.m. will provide free shuttle rides. Shamrocks (General admission) receive a koozie, craic location form and free shuttle rides, while Leprechauns (VIP) receive a koozie, craic location form, free shuttle rides and a t-shirt.

The last stop of the evening is at The Wagner House where The American Rogues will play from 6 – 11 p.m.

The event will provide 7 vans for registered pub crawlers only. Registered attendees only need to show their wristband to get on a shuttle. Those who have not registered or paid admission fee are welcome, but are encouraged to have a designated driver.
