FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — The Freeport High School Theatre Department presents Art to Art three nights this week: Wednesday, March 11; Friday, March 13; and Saturday, March 14, all at 7:00 p.m. in FHS room 228. There is no performance Thursday, due to the World Arts Festival.
FHS students direct and perform three one-act plays: two are comedies and one is a drama. Freeport High School is proud to be the only high school in northern Illinois that gives students this opportunity to direct and produce their own shows. FHS Director of Theatre Tim Connors remarks, “Students learn so much while they’re directing their fellow students. Art to Art shows are a great vehicle for new students to get involved in theatre.”
Mazy Trimble directs the first one-act play, featuring Logan Tessendorf, Anthony Leitzen, Layla Roling, Sydney Forrester, Haley Thies, and Alexander Hendrickson. Veronica Homan directs the second one-act play, which features Lindsey Melancon, Emma Arnold, Nate Sdao, Griffin McDonald, and Gabriella Hornung. The third one-act play, directed by Lymari Powe, features Brooke Parkinson and Noah Redmore. Tim Connors supervises the project, and Becky Connors is the advisor for FHS Thespian Troupe 464 (one of the oldest chapters in the United States). Robert Winter is technical director, and Kayla Winter is ticket manager.
In addition to watching three one-act plays, the audience will enjoy a display of artwork from the award-winning Freeport High School Art Department (hence the name, Art to Art) and a variety of desserts during intermission.
