New Group Plans Freeport’s Largest Pub Crawl, Ever

FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — An independent group of volunteers are planning the 3rd Annual St. Paddy’s Day Pub Crawl set for Saturday, March 16, 2019. This is is expected to be bigger than ever.

The event will start at 11 a.m. with registration until 1 p.m. at Logan’s, located at 1805 S. West Ave. in Freeport. The confirmed stops are Mort’s Bar and Grill, Logan’s, Pub 219, This Is It Eatery, the Wagner House, Horizon Liquors, Elk’s Lodge, Eagle’s Club, Maria’s Lounge, Royal Pub, Jumpin’ Joe’s, Wayside Saloon, Benchwarmer’s, Tony’s, Generations Brewing Company, Pretzel City Pub, and Ridott Corners pop-up in downtown Freeport.

The cost for the event is $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Participants will receive a themed koozie and complimentary rides to each establishment. The funds raised will go to local not for profits chosen by the committee. Three prizes will also be awarded in the form of cash and gifts from participating businesses.

First place will receive $1,000 cash, 2nd place will receive $500 cash and 3rd place will receive a “local basket” of gift cards and goodies from local businesses valued at over $100.

The St. Paddy’s Day Pub Crawl was an event created by the former Freeport Downtown Development Foundation with a goal of recruiting tourism dollars to the area. Last year, over 300 people participated. The committee has a goal to grow that number this year. The economic impact to the city’s businesses is projected to be over $17,000.

Members of the pub crawl committee include Brooke Deininger-Wagner, Kelly Chesney, Michelle Magee, Danielle Rogers, and Michael Marten.
