Freeport, Illinois — On Wednesday Aug. 29th from 4:00-6:00, participation packets can be picked up at St. John United Church of Christ, 1010 S. Park Blvd, for the 2018 Freeport Area Crop Walk. Individuals, organizations, businesses, and congregations are invited to participate.
The 2018 Freeport Area Crop Walk will take place Saturday October 13th beginning at Debate Square, (between the Freeport Public Library and Union Dairy) on Douglas St. Opening ceremony and step-off will be at 9:00 a.m. Registration will begin at 8:00 a.m.
Walkers will be able to choose 1, 2, or 6 mile routes in the city-center area and will collect donations to support development, emergency needs, and fight hunger and poverty locally and around the world. $7802 was raised in 2017 by local participants and over $9,000,000 in 900 Walks was raised nationally. Funds will be distributed by Church World Services, with FACC’s (Freeport Area Church Cooperative) and Freeport Salvation Army’s food pantries receiving 25% of the collected funds.
