Lemonade Days Making a Difference for Down Syndrome

July 17, 2017 (Rockford & Machesney Park): The Rock River Valley families throughout the community can make a significant difference-one cup at a time-by hosting a GiGi’s “Lemonade Days” stand in support of GiGi’s Playhouse Rockford. During the weekend of July 21 & 22, families all across the Stateline will unite to promote acceptance & inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome, while raising critical funds to provide educational & therapeutic programming for hundreds of individuals at no charge. GiGi’s Lemonade Days stands are hosted by families, siblings, co-workers, neighbors, and friends all across the Rock River Valley.

“Summer is a time when families come together, spend time outside, and enjoy the company of their friends and neighbors,” says GiGi’s Playhouse Executive Director, Paula Capone.  “Lemonade Days is a natural fit for both immediate and extended family members to come together, raise awareness, promote acceptance and raise much needed funding to support our signature programs such as Literacy and Math. Even better, Lemonade Days is also a perfect activity for individuals with Down syndrome and their siblings to work on as a team!”

Adds Capone: “Lemonade Days is truly a celebration of our courageous individuals making every cup count. Every stand will make a difference because every location represents acceptance for individuals with Down syndrome. Each stand hosted by an individual with Down syndrome is yet another opportunity to encourage confidence, achievement and the amazing potential of our individuals. We can’t wait to see our families and communities unite as one!”

Joining our efforts this year are Beef-A-Roo restaurants, Northwest Community Bank, Family Video of Byron, Fleet Feet, PC Tech 2 U, Puri Family YMCA, Yackle Tees, Felker Foods, Cherry Valley Feed, Family Video of Rochelle, and many of our GiGi’s Playhouse families.

Lemonade Days program is also available to families that do not have children or adults with Down syndrome, and available to local businesses, camps, libraries, and other community organizations. Information about our Lemonade Days, contact GiGi’s Playhouse Rockford at 815-654-7529.
