Kids In Grades 8-12 To Paint 5 Houses FREE of Charge

Sterling-Rock Falls — If you live in the Sterling or Rock Falls area there’s good news for you if your house could use a new paint job, and you don’t have the funds to make that happen.

According to Sauk Valley Unite, 7 area churches have come together with a mission involving kids in grades 8th through 12th, who are going to paint the exteriors of 5 homes in the Sterling and Rock Falls area.

And they’re doing it, free of charge.

Homeowners must apply to be chosen and the homeowner will get to choose the colors of their home, organizer Rana Smith told the Sauk Valley paper.

The group plans to turn the event into a yearly effort similar to what Fulton has been doing for several years. The group says they are going to begin with 5 houses and hopefully at least 50 kids.

Things to know, homes can be nominated for the service via the application and there is a cost to participate. The cost is $50 per student and $25 per adult leader. The group is also is looking for business sponsors and individual donors.

Applications are available at saukvalleyunite.org or at Sauk Valley UNITE on Facebook, or contact Smith at ranasmith@live.com or 815-718-5633.

The homes will be painted between the dates of June 5 through June 8.
