As one well loved story of Freeport closes, another chapter opens for tales to be told

As one well loved story of Freeport closes, another chapter opens for tales yet to be told. JD’s Pet Paradise will open their store for the final time on Saturday. On the other side of town, former groomer Amy Altensey prepares to open a new shop of her own, next to Rogers Hair Salon.

JD’s will have final discount pricing tomorrow on anything left to get rid of remaining inventory.

Owner Jeff White wishes to thank everyone for supporting his business over the past 35 years. A lot of memories were made that will never go away and a lot of friendships in that time that will never die. Many family pets have come and gone. The store will be open from 9-5.

Amy Altensey will open her business at 1254 W. Galena. She will keep the same phone number that JD’s had previously of 815-235-3812. Amy will open her shop sometime after the first part of July we’re told.

If you’re in the area, even if you don’t need anything pet related, (buy something anyway and give it away) stop by JD’s Pet Paradise and shake Jeff’s hand, maybe offer a hug and tell him you appreciate him. There’s nothing easy, or anything out there that ever fully prepares you for the last day, so a kind word might go pretty far.

Thanks Jeff for all the years, dedication and commitment to all of us who love animals and have pets. Little did you know along the way, you secretly became a small piece of all of us. Thank you and best wishes to the both of you in the future.
