Freeport, Illinois — Blackhawk Hills Regional Council will hold its annual fall summit on October 19th, 9 am, at the Classic Cinemas – Lindo Theatre, located at 115 S Chicago Ave in Freeport. Registration begins at 8:30 am. The event features Willis G. Johnson, President of Classic Cinemas; Carol Portman, Executive Director of the Taxpayers’ Federation of Illinois; Jessica Jane Spayde, Statewide Coordinator of Wisconsin Local Food Network; and Jason Vangalis, Strategic Economic Development Manager of Ady Advantage. Topics include business/downtown development & entrepreneurship, taxes & Illinois fiscal state of affairs, economic diversification, local foods, & value-added ag, and workforce. Additionally, there will be a local foods/value-added ag panel, featuring Generations Brewery Co., Massbach Ridge Winery, and others.
