Freeport Pregnancy Center Recipient of Donations of Checks and Cash Totaling $13,800

FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — The Freeport Pregnancy Center (FPC) has been offering compassion, hope, and help to women facing an unplanned pregnancy in Stephenson County since June 1991, beginning as a satellite of the center in Rockford. Since that time, FPC has been meeting the needs of families for whom a pregnancy may be a crisis. All services have always been free to women, teens and men. Their services have expanded to include pregnancy tests, limited ultrasounds, and presentations in area schools (Sexual Risk Avoidance). They also offer classes covering pregnancy, parenting, and various issues families struggle with (including court-ordered parenting sessions, helping parents fulfill court orders).

The Safe Sleep Program that the are a partner in offers new Pack ‘n’ Plays to help prevent loss of infant lives. They provide new car seats with classes for proper and safe use. They also refer to area agencies and churches that provide services they do not have. They offer layettes (gift box filled with items needed for newborns), clothing up to 2T, gently-used furnishings such as strollers, high chairs, etc., diapers & wipes, and maternity clothing. They also offer loving, caring counsel from FPC workers. So many area individuals and churches have generously donated to provide and meet these needs.

As they have met the above needs for many years, they have seen an increased need to expand their medical services. Expanding their medical services will require proper professional and medical personnel on staff, while adding to and updating their medical equipment. Through this expansion they will be able to offer support and hope to individuals within the community whom they have not been able to reach before.

Since all services are free, this non-profit organization relies completely on the support of the community through donations and volunteers in order to meet the needs of the clients. The donations from 100 Women Who Care will allow them to reach those individuals within our community more effectively and efficiently through the above programs and expansions.

“Congratulations FPC and thank you to member Char Kaiser for nominating and speaking to our members on behalf of FPC.”
