Highland Community College Foundation’s Shindig VI: Monopoly to feature unique auction experiences

Freeport — The Highland Community College Foundation’s Events and Auction Committee is announcing a sampling of donated items featured in the live and silent auctions during Shindig VII: Monopoly, to be held August 19 in Freeport.

Shindig VII: Monopoly will be held at Steve and Beverly Chesney’s property strategically located on South Park Boulevard near Krape Park in Freeport.

The live auction will feature some new experiences this year, including an Oktoberfest Cruise on Chicago River for four with brats, beer and German music; a Chicago Lake Shore Drive, two-bedroom condo; Chicago Bears tickets on Christmas Eve; tickets to Miller Park (Cards vs. Brewers and Cubs vs. Brewers); over night stays at the Savanna Inn and Suites, and DeSoto House Hotel in Galena; and a Star Wars-studded evening at a Rockford Symphony Orchestra performance.

Two items sure to draw high bids include a major league baseball signed by Chicago Cubs second baseman No. 4 Ben Zobrist and four One–Day Park Hopper passes for Walt Disney World in Orlando.

Popular auction items again this year include a gourmet cooking class (and five course dinner) for eight in your home; a pontoon ride on the Mississippi River; stargazing at the Doug Firebaugh Observatory; a 45-minute air adventure for two in a Piper Dakota airplane; customized outdoor holiday decorations for your home; a wagon ride with Kuberski Clydes, and dinner for four at Sunset Grille and Segway tour at Chestnut Mountain Lodge in Galena.

Two additional items show the diversity of auction donations — a 42-piece half-inch drive socket set and a large lot at Lake Carroll.

The HCC Foundation is grateful for the continuing support of its many sponsors from across the College’s district. Sponsors (as of August 1) include the following:

  • Platinum: Big Radio, Inertia Machine, the Morse Group
  • Gold: Fehr-Graham, FHN, Helm Group, Monroe Clinic, State Bank

  • Bronze: Apple River State Bank, Citizens State Bank, Colony Brands, Fifth Third Bank, Hulsebus-Gehlsen Chiropractic, Illinois Bank & Trust, Loescher Heating and Air Conditioning, Moring Disposal, Munda Auctions, Pearl City Elevator, and Union Savings Bank.
