Jesus Ramos, Age 23 Victim of Shooting In Thursday Afternoon Gun Violence in Freeport

Freeport, Illinois — August 4, 2017 — On August 3, 2017 at approximately 12:26 p.m. the Freeport Police Department received a call of a gunshot victim in the area of Grove Avenue and Cottonwood Street in Freeport.

While Officers were en-route to the scene, Freeport Health Network Memorial Hospital Security advised the Police Department that a male gunshot victim had arrived at the Emergency Room by private vehicle.

The victim, Jesus Ramos, aged 23 of Freeport, was later transferred to an area hospital where he is currently listed as being in serious condition.

The investigation into this shooting is on-going, but preliminary information is that the victim was shot by a suspect he had been feuding with for several months. At this time the Police Department has impounded three (3) vehicles that were involved in the incident, and two people who were believed to have been involved in this incident were questioned and released during the afternoon hours of 8-3-17. One of those who was questioned and released was a 22 year old Freeport man, and the other person who was questioned and released was a 17 year old Freeport juvenile.
