Freeport Man Charged In Rock County Crash That Claims Life of Lena Man, Injures Freeport Man

Rock County — According to the Rock County Sheriff’s Office a Freeport, Illinois man has been arrested for driving while intoxicated after he rolled a vehicle in rural Rock County early Sunday morning that resulted in injuries and death.

According to Beloit Daily News the driver, reported as 34 year old Cori Reed driver was said to be driving a black SUV and failed to stop for a marked intersection with County Highway S. The vehicle hit a ditch, rolled several times while in the air, and fell onto its roof in a cornfield.

A 34-year-old Freeport man and a 27-year-old Lena man were both passengers. Earlier reports stated both had sustained substantial injuries. The driver and front seat passenger were reportedly wearing seat belts, the back seat passenger was not.

The rear-seat passenger, identified as the 27-year-old man from Lena, was taken to the hospital for his injuries where he later died.

The driver, Cori Reed, 34, of Freeport, Illinois, was arrested on suspicion of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, causing injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle, first offense operating while intoxicated and failure to stop for a stop sign.
