Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) Coordinating Disaster Recovery Efforts In Stephenson County

FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — Organizations affiliated with the Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) of Northwest Illinois will coordinate disaster recovery efforts in Stephenson County.

In order to reduce confusion, the primary point of contact will be CONTACT of Northern Illinois at 815-233-4357 (HELP). The agency will refer all requests for any type of flood assistance, damage assessment, donations, and volunteer opportunities to the appropriate agencies.

Volunteers (individuals or groups) may register with CONTACT or online at https://letsthrive360.com/. CONTACT will also serve as the source of definitive information regarding the process for physical and monetary donations.

Monetary donations are preferred.

Physical donations will be accepted only with authorization numbers provided by warehouse personnel. Physical donations without a designated number may be refused.

VOAD needs volunteers to support flood relief in numerous areas:

  • Working phones at the Call Center or EOC
  • Monitoring radio communications
  • Assisting with feeding operations
  • Cleaning out for those who cannot do their own
  • Donation center support

Specific volunteer opportunities are listed on https://letsthrive360.com/opportunities which requires registration. These opportunities are posted by the individual nonprofit. Check frequently as needs will change as VOAD works through this process.
