Freeport, Illinois – On Thursday, September 22, 2016, the Committee to Change City Government will host a campaign kick-off event from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Wagner House, 1 East Spring St., in Freeport.
We will celebrate getting the referendum on the November 8 ballot and provide updates on the Committee’s progress and plans. Attendees will also have the opportunity to sign up to get involved. For example, campaign materials such as yard signs and window clings will be available for supporters to take with them.
Everyone interested in supporting the referendum is invited to attend, and to bring a friend or family member.
Parking is available on the street, and in the city lot one block east of The Wagner House.
The referendum, if passed, would change Freeport’s form of municipal government to the Managerial (Council-Manager) form of government featuring a Council, Mayor and City Manager.
