FREEPORT, ILLINOIS — The League of Women Voters of Freeport is hosting a public program that will provide an elections overview at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26 at the Freeport Public Library.
This topic should be of great interest to citizens of Stephenson County, including but not limited to off-year elections, ballot security, and new voting machines. The program is being co-sponsored by the Freeport Public Library Foundation and includes a meet-and-greet with four local candidates on the April 2 ballot.
The presenter for the evening is Stephenson County Clerk and Recorder Vici Otte. Ms. Otte has held her office since 1998. She will discuss her duties and responsibilities over and above its most challenging aspect, elections, where, she says, “There is no room for error.”
All voters and interested members of the public are invited to meet candidates and learn more about elections locally and in general. The Freeport Public Library is at 100 E. Douglas Street in downtown Freeport.
