Rarely Seen Footage of the True Heart of City Employees — Meg Zuravel’s Farewell Speech

Freeport, Illinois — May 18, 2017 — When Meg Zuraval started working for the city of Freeport, she probably had no idea her time would see two Mayors, two Police Chiefs, two Fire Chiefs, a Public Works Director, a City Treasurer, three Community Development Directors, three Finance Directors, two Water and Sewer Directors, two City Engineers, seven Mayor Administrative Assistants, and two Deputy Clerks.

But, it has.

On May 15th, 2017 Meg Zuravel said goodbye to the city of Freeport as she took a step down from her position, choosing to retire from the city of Freeport clerks office.

For those who say our city leaders and local officials don’t care about Freeport or the people who live here, one just need to look at Meg’s final speech to the city to see that is just not the case at all.

What the public rarely sees is the passion that city leaders put into their jobs. A passion that is evident in Meg’s final farewell speech to city leaders and to the people of Freeport.
