Daughter Shannon is just 3.5 hours to the south in Savannah, Ga at the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) and daughter Sara has been accepted there. She has several options actually but SCAD is one now. Recently daughter Taylor has been visiting the Carolina’s and is interested in a school there, but certainly not decided yet and its too early. She is supportive of our move and is looking forward to visiting us there. All in all there is the potential to have three girls in the region!
There are a few more considerations, certainly Jen and I have lost all four of our parents in the last few years, my brother moved to Madison and sister moved to south Florida. Jen also found out two months ago her position at Adeptia was being eliminated and indeed Friday was her last day. Don’t worry though, she’s been taking on clients on a contract basis and as a graphic designer, she can work from anywhere.
I’ve given notice at FHN where my boss, Dr. Perry, will be retiring later this year. This has been hard because I have tremendous respect for him and the entire team at FHN. I realize I won’t find a better group of people to work with than my colleagues at FHN. My last day is Friday, May 20th and we hope all Freeport Friends who can join us, will come to Generations Brewing Co on Tuesday, May 17th after work. (4:30 to 7:00 pm) Please let us know in the comments below if you can join us so Steven Winter at Generations can plan ahead.
I have accepted a position similar to my current position at FHN, but in Myrtle Beach with Conway Medical Center. Financially its a good move and we love the area. We’ve already found a few possible homes in the Carolina Forest that would be close to the medical center and just miles from the beach!
The difficult thing about our move is that we each have 50 years of building relationships in the Freeport, Rockford, and Oregon communities. We have friends who are swimmers, church family, family friends, work friends and more.
We hope to be a destination point and know that true friends stay friends, no matter the time or miles away.
We pray we are making the right decision. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Jen & Terry
