Freeport Firefighters Receive “Life Saving Award” at Freeport City Council

Freeport, Illinois — At Monday night’s Freeport City Council meeting several members of the Freeport Fire Department were recognized by receiving the Life Saving Award. Those receiving the award were;

  • Lieutenant Terry Brashaw
  • Lieutenant Scott Stykel 
  • Firefighter Brian Book
  • Firefighter Hillary Broshous
  • Firefighter Travis Holz
  • Firefighter Mark McCullough
  • Firefighter Mike McKenna
  • Firefighter Ernie Stabenow
  • Firefighter Derek Tessendorf

The awards those honored received read: “On September 1st, 2017, your swift and professional actions resulted in the rescue of a Freeport resident, who was unconscious in a burning, smoke filled apartment. Your rapid response saved the victim from a life-threatening situation”.

Also shown is newly promoted Lieutenant, Terry Brashaw, who received his promotion and badge from his wife and Alderperson Sally Brashaw.
