Freeport, Meet Your Honorary Police Chief of the Day Local 6th Grader Brett Lane

Freeport, Illinois — The prestige, the honor, the love of community and upholding the law. That’s what one local 6th grader at Tri-County Christian School experienced this week. On October 3rd, Freeport Police made 6th Grade Tri-County Christian School student Brett Lane Honorary Police Chief for the Day.

Lane reported for duty this past Tuesday and throughout the day toured the Police Department, the Fire Department and hung out with the big wigs at City Hall.  Chief Lane even enjoyed riding in a police car and of course, what 6th grader doesn’t want to run the siren.

Freeport Police say that even though his day was full of lights and sirens, they say Chief Lane has a different mission in life. His dream is to make a career as an NFL player. We wish him the best.
