Kubatzke was a 43 year member who served the department out of Station 2, the department said.

The Freeport Rural Fire Department says that Jerry will be missed by all who looked up to him and asked that at this time the public keep the Kubatzke family in your thoughts and prayers.

Family, friends and those who Jerry touched have been expressing their sympathy with the family.

I can’t believe I lost the guy that means the world to me. He went by a lot of names around here; buddy, Elmer, Boz, my best friend, my dad. Love you so much dad #ForeverKubatzkeFarm
