Freeport Teachers Could Cash In With Their Lesson Plans, Helping Other Teachers

In today’s wired world, it’s no longer completely out of the question to teach 4th grade and get rich. With blogs, tweets, brands and online stores, tens of thousands of K-12 teachers are selling lesson plans and other classroom aids they’ve created over the Internet – with many reaping large profits in the process. The practice, at least a decade old, has boomed in the past two years, thanks largely to proliferating online platforms and a hunger among teachers for classroom tools

Deanna Jump is a 43-year-old kindergarten teacher who earns less than $30,000 a year. But this year, she says she has made $1 million.

Miss Kindergarten is in the million-dollar club too, according to this article from the Associated Press. So are Lovin Lit, the Moffatt Girls and about a dozen other teacher-entrepreneurs who are spinning reading, math, science and social studies into gold by selling their lesson plans online to fellow teachers around the world.

“If a teacher is already making a resource for her students and it’s super successful in her classroom, then why not post it for other students to use? And if you make something off of it, awesome.”
