Here’s What Last Nights Storm Looked Like Around The Region

Freeport News Network — Last night’s the region and many neighboring towns got rocked as severe thunderstorms and tornadoes ripped through area wreaking havoc to many in its path.

Over 16,000 went without power in Winnebago County after Wednesday storms. According to ComEd’s outage map, 16,045 customers are affected with 119 outages spanning across Winnebago County including Rockford, Cherry Valley, Machesney Park, Rockton, and Roscoe.

Another 5,000 were in the dark in the Freeport area and some still are dark yet in the aftermath the next morning. Many are also reporting water in their homes.

At around 7:40 p.m. last night we recorded this video of what the cloud formations looked like in Freeport, Illinois. The footage was taken by Little Cubs Field just off Empire street.

Harlem-Roscoe Firefighters report a semi rollover on I-90. They also noted calls for a roof blown off on Beutell Ln., trees and wires down blocking roads, power outages. Many intersections were without power including Hwy 251 and Hononegah Rd. continuing south down Hwy 251. And then west on Hononegah Rd. including power outages at Schnucks. WIFR June 29, 2017 7:51 a.m.: BOONE COUNTY/BELVIDERE ROAD CLOSURES: There is no access to Chrysler from Town Hall Road. Chrysler Road is closed between Willowbrook and Oakbrook. 12th Street is closed between 13th Avenue and 14th Avenue. Stone Quarry is closed between Cherry Valley Road to Flora.

WIFR June 29, 2017 at 5:16 a.m.:  JANESVILLE STORM CLOSINGS: Janesville police say there are a few road closings that may affect the morning commute. As of 4:30 A.M. they say a large tree is down in the 200 block of Hillside Court, Palmer Drive is closed between East Racine Street and Mohawk, and there is a tree down in the 2400 block of Rockport Road, but the west bound lane is open.

June 28, 2017 at 8:17 p.m. – Lafayette-Grant County WI Scanner reports that a Tornado touches down in Green County earlier. This is Hwy 69 a few miles north of Monroe.
