Stephenson County, Illinois — Our coverage of yesterday’s historic Captain Lincoln Dedication. We encourage everyone to visit this battle site of Kellogg’s Grove, especially now.
Part of the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, added June 23, 1978, Kellogg’s Grove saw battles (Blackhawk War) on June 15, 1832 and on June 25, 1832. On June 26, 1832 a company of Illinois militia, that included a young (23 year old) Abraham Lincoln, arrived to help bury the dead. This is the story of Lincoln’s return to Kellogg’s Grove as a 23 year old Captain, on June 23, 2018, where he will remain now for centuries to come.
