Freeport -St. Rita Catholic Church of Rockford, Illinois presented a check for $1,560.88 to the Madonna Renewal Center earlier this week in show of support of the MRC’s efforts to further the work done on the former St. Francis hospital, an historic landmark in the city.
A big chunk of the work that will eventually turn this landmark into a center for pregnant women and mothers is completed. Asbestos and mold has been removed, however they urgently need to prime the building with Lead encapsulating paint to prevent further peeling before they can open.
Other aspects of the work require immediate follow up to prevent deterioration of accomplished part. Those involved with the Madonna Renewal Center thanks everyone who has donated and they appreciate knowing the public greatly supports everyone’s effort.
Currently, the Madonna Renewal Center is looking for 1,000 people to give $100 each, or 2,000 people to give $50.00 each. Even if people only wish to give $20.00, they said they’ll be happy if more people gave less, they just desire to reach their goal. In a statement made on a news release they said, “Help us to shout MRC Slogan “We love babies, yes we do, and we love their mothers too!” Anyone who is not allergic to life or children consider responding to this appeal with a donation from the heart to help us out.”
The Madonna Renewal Center held an event in Freeport today, (Saturday, Feb 6 2016) and asked the public to help finish the remaining metal removal that is needed in the building.
Roger L. Kampmier who is the Project leader for the Madonna Renewal Center (MRC) said. “As of this time we have removed a lot of metal from the walls of our building, but the number of volunteers turning out to help has been low. Please see if you can spare some time for the Lords work.” If you missed today and would like to help in the future, you can contact Roger at 815-275-5666.
The Madonna Renewal Center is a safe haven that will offer hope and healing to women in need. A 12 to 24 month program for young adult pregnant women and their infants.
