MOLINE, Illinois — Mediacom customers may experience outages early Wednesday morning due to fiber optic cables being transferred.
Mediacom released a statement on Monday, Sept. 24, saying multiple upgrades across the area are needed. The interruption will happen on Wednesday, Sept. 26, from 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m.
The maintenance work will temporarily interrupt internet, phone and television service for Illinois residents in Rock Island, Whiteside County and parts of Carroll and Henry Counties.
In Iowa, the temporary service interruption will affect customers in Scott, Clinton, and Jackson Counties, as well as the community of Durant.

Central to the project is the planned transfer of fiber optic cables located adjacent to the I-74 bridge construction. Last month, Mediacom fiber at the west base of the bridge was temporarily moved after an industrial vehicle at the bridge site accidentally caught and damaged an aerial span of fiber. Those fiber optic lines will now be placed in permanent new conduits.
Mediacom services will be unavailable during a network maintenance period scheduled to begin immediately after midnight (12:01 am) Wednesday morning (Sept. 26). Work will be completed by 6:00 am. Customers who will be impacted are those in Illinois who live in Rock Island, Whiteside and parts of Carroll and Henry Counties. In Iowa, the temporary service interruption will affect customers in Scott, Clinton, and Jackson Counties, as well as the community of Durant.
