At This Freeport, Illinois Highschool, Everyone Is A King & Queen – NBC Nightly News Reports

Freeport, Illinois — May 18, 2017 — Aquin High School in Freeport, Illinois has a unique tradition that sets them apart from other schools in the country. A tradition of ‘drawing’ for prom dates that goes back to the 1920s when the school wanted to make sure that the many orphans who attended the school would have the opportunity to go to the dance.

Today the tradition continues and this year, Aquin’s High School prom made national news reaching millions upon millions of people all throughout the country. Featured in hundreds of nationally recognized news outlets, Aquin’s prom story has reached into neighborhoods, homes and into people’s lives with a unique story of high school togetherness.

Last night NBC Nightly News also featured Aquin in its segment they call “Inspiring America”.  Film crews came to Freeport, Illinois and visited students from past and present to put together this story.
