Early Morning Mother’s Day Shots Fired Heard In Freeport

Freeport, Illinois — Residents in the area of Chippewa in Freeport, Illinois were awaken in the early morning hours of May 14, 2017 by the sounds of shots fired. A resident reported that “it was another day in the wild west at 3 am this morning”, as they said they were just getting in the shower when they hear six shots fired.

Another said it sounded like “about 12 or 13 shots”.

It was reported that police arrived on the scene and that around 20 minutes later police had “a couple of them” just blocks away.  We have unconfirmed reports that a vehicle possibly ran into a telephone pole.
