Freeport Native Tim Mazurkiewicz Elected As Member of The WAKO International Federation Referee Committee of Ring Sports

Roscoe – Freeport’s own Tim Mazurkiewicz is certainly not new to success. Unless you’ve been in hiding over the past 20 years, odds are you’ve heard the name Mazurkiewicz. A name regarded here with us locals and nationally as a name synonymous with winning, and Tim has been proving himself as a driving force in the Kickboxing and Toughman world since the early 90’s. Add to that his service to our country in Desert Storm and Mazurkiewicz has to his credit and already impressive list of professional titles:

  • Toughman Champion 1998
  • World Toughman Championships FX 2000
  • Golden Glove Boxing & U.S. Kickboxing Champion 1999,2000,2001
  • 1999 IKF North American Heavyweight Champion
  • U.S. Kickboxing Champion 5X 1998-2003
  • USMAA/IKF World Heavyweight Kickboxing Champion 2003 Rivera Maya, Mexico
  • U.S. Kickboxing Team 1999-2003, 2013-present.
  • 2013 Rockton Showdown Heavyweight Modified Kickboxing Champion

This week, Mazurkiewicz added one more.

Tim states, “I am proud to have returned home safely from the 2015 WAKO Full Contact/Tatami World Championships in Dublin, Ireland and carrying a new title. I have been elected as a Member of the WAKO International Federation Referee Committee of Ring Sports.

The World Association of Kickboxing Organizations or WAKO; is the largest international organization of kickboxing, and the governing body of Amateur kickboxing sport certified by SportAccord. It is formed of two organizations: WAKO for amateur sports and WAKO PRO for professional sports. Besides holding world championships, WAKO sanctions the champions of kickboxing in six rule styles.

It is truly an honor as the first American ever to serve on the World Referees Committee, which I am proud to represent the USA and Pan America as the Head Official. I look forward to continuing the development of the sport that I love as we work towards our goal of one day reaching the Olympics“, Tim said.

Tim thanks Rob Zbilski, WAKO TEAM USA KICKBOXING, Friends, Family, Co-Workers, WAKO IF and especially his wife for the years of support!

Congratulations Tim. Way to make your home town proud!
