FSD to hold admission testing for High Academic Potential Program

Freeport, Illinois — The High Academic Potential Program (HAPP) is the school district’s program for meeting the special needs of students who possess high academic potential. The program is more academically rigorous than the regular classroom. HAPP classes for first through fourth grade are held at Center Elementary School and the classes for grades five and six are held at Carl Sandburg Middle School and Freeport Middle School.

All children in kindergarten will participate in the HAPP test during the week of February 21st. Classroom teachers will proctor this test. Parents of current fourth grade students who are interested in having their child participate in HAPP for fifth grade in the 2017- 2018 school year are required to register their child for the admission test by calling Ms. Patricia Schneider, Curriculum Coordinator, at 815-801-0126. This test will be administered on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Blackhawk Elementary School.

If a child is not enrolled in Freeport School District, but resides in the Freeport School District, and the parent is interested in having the child considered for HAPP, please contact Ms. Patricia Schneider at the number provided above. Testing arrangements will be made.
