Freeport – The High Academic Potential Program (HAPP) is Freeport School District’s program for meeting the special needs of students who possess high academic potential. The program is more academically rigorous than the regular classroom. HAPP classes for first through fourth grade are held at Center Elementary School and grades five and six are held at Carl Sandburg Middle School and Freeport Middle School.
All children in kindergarten will participate in the HAPP test during the week of February 15. Classroom teachers will proctor this test. Parents of current fourth grade students who are interested in having their children participate in HAPP for fifth grade in the 2016-2017 school year are required to register their children for the admission tests by calling Ms. Danielle Summers. This test will be administered on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Center Elementary School from 1-4 PM. Doors will open at 12:45 PM. Doors will close at 1 PM and the test will start at 1:15 PM.
If a child is not enrolled in, but resides in, the Freeport School District and the parent is interested in having the child considered for HAPP (for students entering first or fifth grade in 2016), Danielle Summers, Center School Principal, may be contacted at 815-232-0480. Testing arrangements will be made.
