Freeport, Illinois — July 3, 2017 — The Freeport Police issued notice today that a Freeport man on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections was arrested on Felony drug charges during a June 30th traffic stop in Freeport, Illinois.
On June 30th, 2017, at approximately 1:41am, Freeport Police Officers arrested Joseph Coleman Jr., age 33, of Freeport during a traffic stop in the area of Winneshiek Street and Float Avenue after Officers observed a vehicle being driven by Coleman commit multiple lane violations on Adams Avenue.
During the traffic stop Officers smelled Cannabis inside the vehicle and observed an open bottle of alcoholic liquor.
A subsequent search of Joseph Coleman and his vehicle resulted in the seizure of the following; $4,415.00 cash, approximately 84.9 grams of suspected Heroin, approximately 50.6 grams of suspected Cocaine, approximately 54.5 grams of suspected Cannabis, a digital scale, and plastic sandwich bags.
Joseph Coleman Jr, who was on Parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections at the time of his arrest due to a previous 2011 Felony drug conviction in Cook County has been charged with the following offenses;
- Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver 15-100 grams of Heroin
- Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver 15-100 grams of Cocaine
- Unlawful Possession of Cannabis 30-100 grams.
Coleman is in custody at the Stephenson County Jail and his bond has been set at $200,000.00 – 10% applies.
