Jodi Miller Announces Candidacy for Part Time Mayor of the City of Freeport

Freeport, Illinois – In light of the recent changes to Freeport city government which took place November 8th, 2016, whereby voters chose to replace a 160 year old form of Mayor/City Council government a “new” opening to an old position has become more viable for citizens of Freeport.

In an announcement released earlier today 4th Ward Alderperson Jodi Miller declared her candidacy for what will be Freeport’s Part Time Mayor.

“It’s official…. just filed the paperwork to run as a candidate for the part time Mayor of the City of Freeport”, Jodi stated on her Facebook page.

“Two years ago today I filed to run as Alderperson for the 4th ward and took that seat in May 2015 and have not regretted one moment of service to the city. I look forward to doing everything I can to help keep the momentum going to move Freeport forward and in a positive direction.”

Current Freeport Mayor Jim Gitz announced shortly after the vote to change city government that he would not be seeking re-election.

Jodi Miller is the co-owner of the Union Dairy, a famed local Ice Cream parlor in Freeport. Jodi said she believes it’s time for a business owner to step up to the challenge of part time Mayor and says she has the experience in growing a business and wants to do the same for Freeport.
