New “Hands On” Museum in Freeport Brings Learning Through Fun To Northwest Illinois

This week the New Children’s Hands On Museum of NW Illinois was at the Eagle Club to share over 20 of their exciting and fun exhibits with residents and school children of the Freeport area. We stopped by on Wednesday when Lincoln Douglas school children were there and found this new museum a “big hit” with everyone who was there.  The Children’s Hands On Museum offers numerous interactive exhibits that appeal to toddlers, elementary children and the “young at heart”.

The museum currently does not have a permanent location, however Gwynne Hookanson French of the Museum told us they are seeking donations to be used to establish a permanent museum location in Freeport. There is some consideration of the Lincoln Mall, said Gwynne.

During our time there very child was involved in some activity and the activities themselves revolved around learning something all while having fun, which every child we saw at the expo was. Hats off to the Children’s Hands On Museum, it’s volunteers and the over 100 people who have donated their time, expertise and money to make yet another dream for Freeport a reality.
