Pearl City Student Bass Fishing Team Takes 3rd at IHSA Sectionals, Advances To State

Pearl City, Illinois — Last Thursday a group of students at Pearl City high school were in the IHSA Bass Fishing sectionals, which took place at Big Slough Ramp in Thomson, Illinois.

Out of a total of twenty two boats from eleven schools, Pearl City’s Zach Lieb, Mitchell Brinkmeier, Dawson McClaran, and Collyn Kuberski took 3rd place after boating just over 18 pounds in the competition. The Pearl City Bass Team 3rd place win guarantees them now a spot at the state tournament, which will occur May 17th-19th at Carlyle Lake, in Central Illinois. Two hundred ninety schools entered teams this year statewide.

The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) held their spring sectionals at Big Slough Ramp, Pool 13, just south of Savanna. Geneseo High School took first bringing to the scales a bag that weighed 21-pound 12-ounces, with Riverdale Bass Club bringing in a 19-pound 10-ounce bag of fish to the scales.

A maximum of three (3) boats from each of the 22 sectionals advance to the state finals.
