Pearl City, Illinois — There really isn’t much more that second graders enjoy other than building things. This past week Mrs. Robinson’s second grade class in Pearl City got to do just that.
Her students worked on a STEAM project in small groups. Each group was given a bag of straws and masking tape, and they were also allowed to use scissors.
Each team was instructed to build the tallest tower with these materials that could stand on its own.
The children had to plan a design, construct it, and make changes along the way. A great deal of team work and critical thinking went into the towers.
