Freeport, Illinois — Established by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) in 1967 and always beginning on Mother’s Day, National Skilled Nursing Care Week (NSNCW), formerly known as National Nursing Home Week, provides an opportunity to recognize the role of skilled nursing care centers in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities.
Yesterday in Freeport the Stephenson Nursing Center kicked off National Skilled Nursing Care Week with a proclamation from Freeport Mayor Jodi Miller, as well as naming a King and Queen of the Week.
As part of the week long celebration residents also flew kites, as well as released (biodegradable) balloons. Other activities are planned throughout the week.
