Madison, Wisconsin— July 7, 2017 — A Freeport man is recovering from stab wounds to his shoulder after an incident that happened at a steakhouse on the west side of Madison, Wisconsin on Thursday.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports that a 63-year-old man from Freeport, Illinois was having dinner with his wife as the two were celebrating their wedding anniversary, when a man acting strangely started stabbing.
The report says that a waiter at the Longhorn Steakhouse noticed the perpetrator was twitching and mumbling to himself. When the perpetrator started stabbing the victim, the waiter jumped at 48 year old Rickey Resch of Madison and knocked him to the floor.
Several other people at the restaurant were said to have intervened as well, with several people disarming the suspect as others went to the aid of the victim and his wife.
The 63 year old unidentified Freeport victim was taken to the hospital with stab wounds to his shoulder.
The report states that as the perpetrator was being arrested and taken away by the police, the restaurant burst into applause, with the waiter being thanked for his actions.
