Dakota, Illinois — Started in 2002, the Route 75 Sales are held annually the first weekend of June along the 40 mile stretch of Illinois Highway 75 between South Beloit and Freeport. The Route 75 Sales event is the single largest community sales event of the year.

Avid garage sale shoppers and treasure hunters can find everything they want and more along the route. Businesses and organizations go all out to welcome shoppers. Churches and organizations have flea markets and rummage sales. Restaurants and vendors sell food.
Garage sale organizers see the Route 75 Sales as a way to introduce visitors to the towns, businesses, rural scenery , and other features of the area.
The sale route follows Illinois Highway 75 across beautiful northern Illinois between I-90 in Rockton/South Beloit and US Highway 20 in Freeport.
Sponsored by the communities of Dakota, Rock City, Davis, Lake Summerset, and Rockton, it involves hundreds of garages sales, small businesses, and flea markets, as well as churches and restaurants selling food in small communities and along the highway between the towns.
