Freeport, Illinois – The Freeport Police Department conducted enforcement from November 14-28, reminding motorists to buckle up and not drive impaired, both day and night, during the Click It or Ticket mobilization. The Freeport Police Department joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway fatalities by cracking down on unbuckled motorists and impaired drivers.
During the mobilization, Freeport Police issued:
• 13 seat belt citations
• 5 DUI arrests
• 1 felony arrest
• 2 fugitives apprehended
• 11 suspended/revoked licenses
• 31 uninsured motorists
• 50 speeding citations
• 1 drug arrest
The annual Click It or Ticket mobilization may be over in Freeport, however, that is no excuse to stop using your seat belt.
“Our officers are out year-round. If you or your passengers are caught not wearing a seat belt, day or night, you will be cited for the violation,” says Lt. Blake Klosa.
This law enforcement mobilization was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the nationwide “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaigns. For more information, visit www.idot.illinois.gov.
