East Side Residents And Community Leaders Speak Out At Last Nights Community Meeting Sponsored by the Journal-Standard The Journal Standard, who received a $2,500 grant, announced its plan to do a 3 day story aimed at three aspects of the 3rd and 5th wards. A little over 20 people, mostly consisting of community leaders, were at last nights open to the public meeting. When asked this morning, Freeport Mayor Jim Gitz stated he was not made aware of the meeting which was aimed at covering topics regarding our city’s east side.
