FSD to Hold Testing for High Academic Potential Program

Freeport, Illinois — The High Academic Potential Program (HAPP) is the Freeport School District’s program for meeting the special needs of students who possess high academic potential. The program is more academically rigorous than the regular classroom. HAPP classes for first through fourth grades are at Center Elementary School and grades five and six will be at Carl Sandburg Middle School.

All Freeport School District students in kindergarten and fourth grades will participate in taking the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test during the week of February 26th to determine admission into the program. Classroom teachers will proctor this test.

Parents who are interested in having their kindergarten or fourth grade child participate in HAPP and who reside in the Freeport School District, but are not enrolled in the Freeport School District, are asked to please contact curriculum coordinator Pat Schneider at 815-801-0126 to make testing arrangements in advance.

The test will be administered at Center School on Tuesday, February 27 at 10:00 a.m. for fourth grade students and Tuesday, February 27 at 11:00 a.m. for kindergarten students. The test will also be administered to kindergarten and fourth grade students on March 7, 2018 at 4:30 p.m. at Center School.
