Freeport, Illinois – Freeport High School is preparing to host its first ever job fair later this month. The FHS College & Career Center will sponsor the fair in the school’s gymnasium on October 27 from 1:00 – 6:30 p.m. with the goal of connecting teenage and adult job seekers in the Freeport area with local employers. The event is free to job seekers and open to the public. It is designed to develop stronger employability skills in our school and community.
Employers scheduled to attend include Snak King, FSD145, Furst Staffing, Pearl Valley Farms, Honeywell Corp, FHN, Berner Food & Beverage, Nationwide Inbound, Furst-McNess, Hughes Resources, Mechanical Inc., E.D. Etnyre & Co., Heritage Woods, Army National Guard, and many others. Area support services are invited as well to assist job seekers as they move towards employment.
Meanwhile, several seminars will be offered during the event, including “Soft Skills & Work Ethic” (2:00 pm), “Resume Writing” (3:00 pm), “Interview Skills” (4:00 pm), “Jobs – Where to Go? Where to Look?” (5:00 pm), and “Get Motivated – Carl Cole” (6:00 pm). A computer lab and assistance will also be available for completing online job applications and FAFSA.
Employers interested in participating as a vendor should register by October 20th by visiting the following link: Registration Form . Fees for non-profit organizations are $25 and for-profit organizations are $75. The vendor fees are designed to cover the costs of the fair, light refreshments throughout the day, and a small donation towards the FHS College and Career Center Scholarship.
