August 4 – FHN Sports Physical Clinic – Stockton School District

2 – 5 p.m.

FHN Family Healthcare Center – Stockton, 725 N. Pearl Street, Stockton

$20 sports physical meets Illinois eligibility requirements for all sports and is good through the 2016-2017 school year. FHN will donate the proceeds of this clinic to Stockton Schools. The IESA/IHSA Sports Physical Form must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian before the physical. If a parent does not accompany the athlete, the student must bring a filled out and signed Consent for Medical Care form to the physical. Forms are available at www.fhn.org; call 815-947-3211 for an appointment or more information.

August 6 – Blood Pressure Screening

9 – 11 a.m.

Gospel Outreach Food Pantry, 211 W. Spring Street, Freeport

No cost or registration required; open to the public.

August 8 – Parkinson’s Support Group

1:30 – 2:30 p.m.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 118 E. Mason Street, Lena

Brenda Dorsey from the SR Center will talk about SR Center services available in Stephenson and Jo Daviess counties. No cost or registration required; open to the public.

August 12 – Movie in the Park – Happy Feet

7:30 p.m.

Krape Park, 1799 S. Park Boulevard, Freeport

FHN and Freeport Park District present a FREE showing of “Happy Feet” on a giant 25-foot inflated screen. Before show time, enjoy a dance-along and performances by local dance groups. The movie begins at dusk.

FHN Speaker Series: Anyone Can Have Diabetes

Nearly 10 percent of the U.S. population has been diagnosed with diabetes – and millions more have it, but haven’t been diagnosed. Some types of diabetes are hereditary, some are situational (like gestational diabetes), and some can be prevented. Join FHN dietitian and diabetes educator Nicolette Drane to learn if you’re at risk, how to help prevent or manage the disease, and pick up a stash of healthy recipes designed to help you keep diabetes in check.
